Mission Adventures (MA) trains groups to present the gospel across cultures. The MA staff takes care of the details of food, housing, transportation, and equipment so that youth group leaders can focus on their groups. On these short-term mission trips, groups 1) Hear God's word, 2) Do what it says, and 3) Stretch beyond their natural ability, "instilling a passion in each participant for lifetime involvement in world missions."
Mission Adventures began in 1986 when Sean Lambert, a YWAM leader in San Diego, sensed God leading him to mobilize students for missions. That year, he took 30 people to Mexico City to distribute Bibles. By 1991, Sean had worked with youth pastors to mobilize whole groups for trips from YWAM Los Angeles to Tijuana, Mexico. In 1997, after other YWAM locations showed interest in the idea, the Mission Adventures Network began as a coalition of YWAM centers that strive to give youth groups easy access to missions. Now, more than 30 YWAM centers in a dozen nations have joined the MA Network, and since 1997, more than 42,000 people have gone on an MA outreach. Short-term missions give young people a broadened world view, and encourage them to consider how God might use them in the task of global missions.
