International Chairman - Lynn Green

Responses indicate the Lord is acting in unity around the globe
Reported by Molly Petersen
19 November 2005

In reply to a letter drafted by the International Chairman, Lynn Green, addressing the entire Mission with words from the Lord, YWAM leaders and staff responded in agreement. "Thank you for your encouragement. It seems that even on this side of the globe, we are one with the wider body of YWAM!" said one YWAM base leader. "It was a word fitly spoken," wrote another.

Though the words delivered by Dr. Atef, a Coptic Orthodox Celibate Priest, "do not taste good," as put in one response, the letter also gave "hope for our Mission."

In the intervening time since the letter was distributed, "we have continued to experience God's presence in the form of conviction of sin, and clear insight into what he requires of us. He wants a humble and contrite people who will honour Him when He works in power in and through us," said Lynn.

"I have just returned from a staff meeting in the Middle East and found YWAMers with great hunger for more of God, men and women who long to be more intimate with him and who know that they must experience the power of God if the gospel is to advance in that challenging part of the world.

The responses we have received indicate that YWAMers everywhere are humbly seeking more of God. I trust that this statement describes you too. Remember, God is committed to give grace to the humble. Ask him for insight into your own heart (and don't be surprised if it comes via other people who bring correction to you) and be sure to respond with a teachable attitude. This is the pathway to more of the power and authority of God -- and we desperately need more!!"

The excitement of the realization that God is indeed doing something among us as a Mission is especially poignant on the heels of the 50 Days initiative during which the entire community of YWAM was banded together in nearly two months of prayer and fasting. "It feels like the time has come for us to band together and recognise our sameness," said one reader.

If you have not had the opportunity to reflect on these words from the Lord, please take the opportunity to read the attached letter below, and "in no time the hair of our Mission will again be fully grown."
