Providing Relief in Ukraine

YWAM Ukraine has been reaching out to help refugees and victims of the violence in the eastern part of the country. They are seeking additional finances and volunteers to help them accomplish more. To donate, click here and pick “Ukraine Relief” from the drop-down list.
Due to the war in the Ukraine, many residents in eastern Ukraine have fled their homes and have sought refuge elsewhere. Others have stayed in order to protect their homes and businesses. Those who have stayed behind are living in fear and without many of the basic needs for daily living. Heat for the apartment buildings, electricity, and hot water for bathing are all limited, and in some places not functioning at all. Many of the local Christians in these areas have opened their homes and church facilities to house those who have lost their homes or who are fleeing the fighting.
A YWAM team just returned from a week in eastern Ukraine. While they were there the team was able to renovate a small church so that it can be used to house refugees. With items that were donated and purchased they built a simple kitchen in the garage, installed a sink, shower and hot water heater in the bathroom, and provided the funds to help finish a ceiling in one room of the church. While they were traveling they were also able to give needed items to people in need such as soldiers at the checkpoints who are living in very primitive conditions. The four YWAM locations in Ukraine, along with Open Door Foundation, are working together in a coordinated response to meet the needs of people in the east. They are enlisting the aid of local churches, believers and current and former YWAM staff. Said Hilary Lind of YWAM Ukraine, “The needs are great, but our God is greater.”
Donations to YWAM Ukraine will help them provide refugees with bedding, medicine, food, and winter boots. YWAM Ukraine also needs short-term teams, volunteers with construction skills, and relief supplies. To offer assistance, please contact YWAM Ukraine’s relief effort coordinator.
