God is Inviting Us

Published on: September 23, 2015

YWAM’s global prayer day is coming soon! Darlene Cunningham, YWAM’s Co-Founder, explains the importance of YWAM’s first prayer topic: ending Bible poverty.

Dear YWAM Global Family,
These are amazing days that we are living in—so many exciting reports of multiplication of workers and of people coming to Jesus. Yet, at the same time, we are aware that as the Light becomes brighter, the evil in the world is truly becoming more radical and more blatant. We are aware that many of you are facing true evil and persecution on a daily basis. It’s more important now than ever that we are engaged in prayer for one another—that our hearts are tuned into the Lord, and we hear His still small voice guiding us, both in the “big” things, and literally the everyday details to avoid the dangers the enemy has planned to detour us from accomplishing the dreams in God’s heart.
As Loren and I YWAM's Co-Founder Darlene Cunninghamhave met with the Founders’ Circle and other leadership groupings, we have carried the mission in our hearts. The Lord has reminded us that the prayer base must be strong enough and broad enough to support the ministry outreach and growth. I know many of you are praying faithfully, but we feel the Lord is encouraging us as leaders to initiate one day a month, the second Thursday (or whatever day close to that works best for your community), when the whole YWAM family will join together for a YWAM global day of prayer. It’s called “The Invitation.” God is inviting us into His presence to help carry and nurture His dreams.
Each month there will be a different focus: one month, we will all pray for the concerns of our local community; the next month for the YWAM area that you are a part of (and that God will help us to pioneer where we are not!); and the third month for global concerns. This rhythm may be adjusted as the Holy Spirit leads, if there is an urgent situation that we all need to rally around. Facilitators from the global communication team will help send out the reminders and prayer alerts each month.
The focus for the first YWAM global prayer day of 2015 (October 8) will be to pray for the vision God has put in Loren’s heart, which is constantly being confirmed by other leaders in the body of Christ worldwide, to End Bible Poverty Now. Living with Loren, I can tell you that God has consumed him with this passion. He is eating, sleeping, living and breathing this vision not just on a daily basis—it’s more like minute-to-minute!
Loren and I have been blessed to live on the front edge of this amazing missions wave called YWAM. We have seen the greatness of God in so many ways. But no season has been more thrilling than the one we are in the midst of right now! Let’s join in prayer together for all the dreams in God’s heart to be fulfilled, and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven! His will is for everyone to have access to His Word!
Love and blessings,
Darlene
