Rewriting Stories in Taiwan

Published on: September 24, 2013

Taipei VirginiaWhen Virginia walked into YWAM Taipei’s coffee bar, The Rock, she had no idea her life was about to be changed forever.
“I knew the people there were Christian, but it didn’t matter to me; I just wanted to improve my English and make some new friends,” Virginia said.
The more time Virginia spent with the YWAMers there, the more attracted she became to the Christian life. “I told the God that I didn’t yet know that I wanted to be like those Christians, and that if He was the only thing that made my life different from theirs, I would believe in Him.”
The Lord heard Virginia’s prayer, and she gave her life to Him. Nine months later she quit her job, enrolled in YWAM Taipei’s Discipleship Training School (DTS), and joined the staff.
The memory of how God had impacted her life through the ministry of The Rock coffee bar never left her. For a while, she took on the leadership of the place. “I don’t think there’s anything magic about this coffee bar that changes people,” Virginia said. “We see people’s life stories rewritten as God and his servants work together.”
